Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission D Chairman, Ida Mahmudah says the the Refused Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant construction in Rorotan, North Jakarta has many benefits.

It will also have an impact on minimizing traffic jams

According to her, the Rorotan RDF Plant, which was groundbreaking today by the Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, could reduce the burden on the volume of waste disposed of at the Bantergebang TPST, Bekasi, West Java.

"It will also have an impact on minimizing traffic jams due to the mobility of dump trucks from Jakarta to Bekasi and vice versa," she expressed, after the RDF Plant groundbreaking procession in Rorotan, North Jakarta, Monday (5/13).

It is no less important that the results of waste processing at the RDF Plant can be sold to industries that need it.

"It could be a new source of income for local income," she explained.

She was grateful that its construction as a location for modern urban scale waste processing could be realized.

"Thank God, finally, Jakarta has big capacity waste management within the city. Hopefully, it will be completed quickly, thus it can be operational in early 2025," she explained.

She added the waste problem in Jakarta needs a solution with new breakthroughs that provide many benefits. One of them is through regional or urban scale waste management.

"Through waste management, this area can save expenses because there is no tipping fee. If it can be resolved immediately, one more waste problem in Jakarta will be resolved," she added.

Of course, her party supports the city administration in efforts to handle waste through the implementation of an Intermediate Treatment Facility (UTF) and RDF Plant.

"If you want an ITF or RDF Plant, the council agrees, as long as there are no tipping fees and wasting the APBD," she stressed.
